Technical drawing and quote checklist
A useful quotation starts with a shared definition of the part and the requested supply.

Before requesting a glass quotation, assemble a single reference package that purchasing and engineering can both identify. Its purpose is to make assumptions visible, so different versions or missing dimensions do not become competing instructions.
Identify the part and revision
State the application, part number, drawing date and revision. Include readable views and the measurement unit. If a model and a drawing are both supplied, say which controls dimensional interpretation. Mark older files as superseded and identify the contact who can resolve technical questions.
Describe geometry and finish
Show overall dimensions, thickness, hole locations, cut-outs, radii and the reference edges used for measurements. State required tolerances where relevant rather than expecting them to be inferred. Describe edge finish, surface appearance and any printing or orientation requirements. For curved parts, explain the reference geometry and how fit will be assessed.
- Distinguish required values from provisional estimates.
- Label viewing direction and the installation side where relevant.
- List missing measurements as questions, not zero values.
Separate technical and commercial inputs
Specify sample quantity, order quantity and any forecast separately. Identify the delivery destination and requested supply scope. Describe packaging constraints or receiving restrictions that could affect the quotation. Present a target date as a request for discussion; it is not an agreed delivery commitment.
Close the enquiry loop
Before sending, check that every attachment uses the same part identity and revision. Ask for unresolved assumptions to be listed in the quotation. When a requirement changes, issue a revised package and request confirmation of its effect on scope and price before proceeding.

Can a photograph replace a drawing?
A photograph provides context but rarely defines dimensions or tolerances. Include known measurements and state what still needs assessment.
What if a tolerance is unknown?
Flag it for engineering review. Agree the value and inspection method before treating the part definition as final.
